Emergency care for chest pain
Chest pain is one of the most common reasons people come to our ER. To increase our readiness, our hospital staff has established a community initiative with Manatee County emergency medical services (EMS) to treat patients with cardiac conditions faster.
Our emergency team integrates with EMS to provide the fastest and best care possible. Emergency physicians and staff work closely with cardiologists, the catheterization lab and other medical specialists and diagnostic services within the hospital to ensure quick diagnosis and treatment. A seamless transition of care between our ER and local EMS is just one part of our complete cardiac services.
Comprehensive Stroke Center
A cerebrovascular accident, or stroke, is a serious neurological condition in which a problem occurs with the blood supply in the brain. Blake Medical Center is proud to be the first and only certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Manatee County. Our hospital has the personnel, infrastructure, and expertise to diagnose and treat stroke patients who require intensive medical and surgical care, specialized tests, or interventional therapies. Our DNV GL Healthcare Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) certification verifies we deliver the highest quality of care to the most complex cases offering evidence-based treatments with cutting edge research protocols. The neurologists at our hospital work with the staff in the emergency room (ER) to provide emergency stroke treatment. Following this treatment, patients receive continued care at our hospital to ensure optimal recovery.
Blake Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center as designated by the Florida Department of Health. This means our hospital has trained trauma specialists on-site 24/7.
When you receive care at our Trauma Center, you increase your chances for a positive outcome, as your care is coming from a team of physicians who are experts in treating traumatic injuries. You'll also receive access to integrated care between our specialty services, including laboratory testing, advanced imaging and surgical care.
It is our policy that anyone who comes to our ER for examination and/or treatment of any emergency medical condition or for active labor will receive examination, stabilization treatment and/or transfer, as determined by the patient’s needs and the capabilities of the hospital. The provision of emergency services and care shall not be based upon, nor affected by, the person’s race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or national origin.
