BRADENTON, FL – Valerie Powell-Stafford, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer, Blake Medical Center, has been elected to serve on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). She took office on March 14, 2015 at the Council of Regents Meeting preceding ACHE’s 58th Congress on Healthcare Leadership. She will serve a three-year term representing more than 40,000 ACHE members on ACHE’s Board of Governors, the authority that oversees ACHE operations and member services.
Powell-Stafford has served as Chief Operating Officer of Blake Medical Center since 2014. Prior to this position, she was Chief Operating Officer of Doctors Hospital of Sarasota, Sarasota, FL and Assistant Administrator at Community Hospital, New Port Richey, FL.
Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Powell-Stafford served as the ACHE Regent-at-Large for District Two from 2012 to 2015. She also served as president of the Western Florida Chapter of ACHE from 2007 to 2008. She is a recipient of the ACHE Distinguished Service Award.
Powell-Stafford received her master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, and her bachelor’s degree from the Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
