BRADENTON, FL – September 10, 2018 –While testing a menu for a new concept, Taco Bus owner Rene Valenzuela, was involved in a gas explosion that left him severely burned and transferred to Blake Medical Center’s Burn Care Unit. While in the hospitals care, he says his passion was re-inspired after witnessing the dedication of his care team.
Valenzuela shared that the most important thing that happened to him while in the hospitals care, was the impact the nurses, physicians and therapists had on his life. “I was in a place where I didn’t know how I could make a difference in the world, I felt I didn’t have nearly enough impact on the people around me, especially after witnessing firsthand how these people bring patients like me back to life,” he explained.
It was after his Occupational Therapy team had him try cooking again that he shared his passion was re-inspired, “I was able to bring people together, the staff and team gathered together for this meal I was preparing and they shared joy, laughter and comradery all thanks to a small act that I had produced.”
