Inaugural HCA Trauma and Injury Prevention Coordinator Symposium Hosted by Blake Medical Center
Bradenton, FL – August 25, 2016 – On Friday, August 5th, Blake Medical Center hosted the inaugural HCA Injury Prevention Coordinator Symposium in their Medical Arts Building.
The event brought together the injury prevention coordinators (IPC’s) from all of the HCA Trauma Centers across the United States for the purpose of networking, sharing ideas, events and best practices at each facility.
Cindy Tanner, RN, BS, TCRN, Blake Medical Center’s ICP hosted and organized the event and shared, “The symposium was an excellent way to coordinate resources, and allowed new and seasoned ICP’s to network and exchange information on existing and potential injury prevention programs. The symposium not only met but exceeded my expectations of value to my colleagues which was clearly expressed in the feedback surveys. I look forward to this new annual event”.
The majority of the ICP’s from the Florida HCA Trauma Centers were onsite for the event, with over 20 ICP’s attending via webex from all over the United States and as far away as Alaska. Also in attendance was Representative Jim Boyd from the Florida House of Representatives who spoke with the group regarding engaging local politicians regarding injury prevention related initiatives.
The event was well received by all attendees, future meetings will be held at various HCA facilities.
