Bradenton, FL, July 14, 2020 – Blake Medical Center is proud to announce the 2020 Doctor of the Year, orthopedic surgeon, Alan Valadie, MD. Nominations for the award were accepted during the first two weeks in March, with a delay in the reveal of this year’s winner due to the pandemic. Nominations for the hospital’s Doctor of the Year were received from patients and caregivers, including fellow physicians.
Nomination comments for Dr. Valadie included: “He is kind, caring, and genuinely interested in your health issues.", “Brilliant, and caring surgeon.”, and “He has brought innovative and cutting edge joint replacement surgery to our community.”
Dr. Alan Valadie joined the medical staff at Blake Medical Center in 1996. His leadership, dedication, and intense focus on quality, safety, and optimal patient outcomes have significantly shaped the hospital’s award-winning orthopedic program and enhanced procedures throughout the hospital.
From 2010 – 2016, Dr. Valadie served on Blake Medical Center’s Medical Executive Committee, he has served as the Medical Director for the hospital’s Joint Replacement and Spine Institute for the last 12 years, and in 2017 he joined Blake’s Board of Trustees and remains an active board member.

Doctor of the Year has been a Blake Medical Center tradition since 1983. Over the past 37 years, Dr. Alan Valadie is the only physician to ever receive this notable recognition twice.
