Call 911 immediately at the onset of heart attack symptoms
Chest pain is one of the most common reasons people come to the Emergency Department at Blake Medical Center. To increase our readiness, the hospital has established a community initiative with the Manatee County EMS system to treat patients with cardiac problems faster.
When suffering a heart attack, Time = Heart Muscle. For patients having a heart attack or STEMI (ST Segment Elevated Myocardial Infarction), the national standard is to try to get the patient from the door to the cath lab for balloon angioplasty within 90 minutes. Blake is proud to not only meet that goal nearly 100% of the time, but we often far exceed it. Because of this success, we're able to save more heart muscle, which leads to better outcomes for our patients.
Our Chest Pain Center incorporates all the hospital diagnostic and treatment services. We are continuously available for patients who are experiencing chest pain or symptoms related to a cardiac event.
Our Emergency team integrates with EMS to provide the fastest and best care possible. Emergency physicians and staff work closely with cardiologists, the catheterization lab and other medical specialists and diagnostic services within the hospital to ensure quick diagnosis and treatment.
