New Thirteen Part Lecture Series for Cancer Patients
Bradenton, FL - Blake Medical Center announces the start a free lecture series developed by the American Cancer Society called 'I Can Cope.' The series will begin this Thursday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. in Blake’s new Cancer Resource Room, located in the Blake Medical Arts Building, Suite 3400. This first lecture, “Learning About Cancer” will be presented by Dr. Robert Whorf, a medical oncologist on staff at Blake Medical Center.
This free 13 class series covers a variety of topics for newly diagnosed cancer patients and their caregivers including, defining cancer and its treatment options, nutrition, coping psychologically with the diagnosis, and others.
Classes are held the first and third Thursday of the month through April, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and include lunch. To register for this, or other classes in the Cancer Resource Room at Blake Medical Center, please call 1-888-359-3552.
The Cancer Resource Room offers exercise classes, lectures and support groups specifically designed for cancer patients. The room also provides a quiet place for patients and caregivers to read and reflect on the wealth of cancer information available there. Blake’s cancer program is Accredited with Commendation by the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer.
